Smartphones these days are equipped with great cameras but which is the best camera phone to buy? We take a look at the best camera phones you can buy in India for May 2017. These phones are the best camera smartphones, which offer the best in image quality in the market. So, without further ado, here are top 10 camera phones in India.

Apple iPhone 7 Plus
Some may call the dual camera setup a gimmick, but the fact is, the iPhone 7 Plus has the best camera available today on a smartphone. It takes great photos in all lighting conditions, and can outperform any Android phone. Apple will also add the bokeh feature in an upcoming update, which will be an interesting addition to an already great camera unit. Camera aside, it is also the best smartphone you can buy today. It is fast, has a brilliant display, an uncompromised metal design and a day worth of battery life. In addition, the hardware is complimented by the smooth iOS operating system, which offers tons of polished applications. Specs: Display: 5.5 inches, 1080 x 1920 p SoC: Apple A10 Fusion RAM: 3 GB Storage: 32/128/256 GB Camera: 12 MP, 7MP Battery: Non-removable Li-Ion 2900 mAh OS: iOS 10.0.1

Google Pixel XL
Google's Pixel XL may not be as good as the iPhone 7 Plus on overall terms, but produces the best level of details on any smartphone. Images taken by the phone come out superb during daylight conditions. Depending on your colour preferences, you may actually find this to be better than the iPhone 7 Plus at times. Where it lags behind, though, is in low light performance. In terms of performance, this is the best Android phone you can get today. Period. The phone is well designed, offers a day worth of battery and has a brilliant display to match. Specs: Display: 5.5 inches , 1440 x 2560 p SoC: Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 RAM: 4 GB Storage: 32/128 GB Camera: 12.3 MP, 8MP Battery: Non-removable Li-Ion 3450 mAh OS: Android OS, v7.1

Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge
Samsung's flagship Galaxy S7 Edge is not only the best overall smartphone to buy in the market, but offers a stellar camera as well. The Galaxy S7 Edge houses a 12MP Sony IMX260 sensor, with an f/1.7 lens. The phones have uber-fast autofocus, and essentially house all the features that you would require from a flagship-class device. Alongside, the overall performance of the phone is fast and fluid. The new Samsung Exynos 8890 SoC, along with 4GB of RAM, churns out stellar performance. Samsung has also implemented fast charging on the phone, which charges the phone from 0 to almost full within an hour. The glass-and-metal build may not be well-suited for clumsy hands, but this has been one of Samsung's best designs on smartphones ever. Also, Samsung has made the Galaxy S7 Edge water- and dust-resistant, so you can enjoy using the phone in rain or on a beach. Specs: Display: 5.5 inches, 1440 x 2560 p SoC: Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 RAM: 4 GB RAM Storage: 32/64 GB Camera: 12MP,5MP Battery: Non-removable Li-Ion 3600 mAh OS: Android OS, v6.0

Apple iPhone 7
According to us, Apple's latest iPhone 7 has a slightly inferior camera to the S7 Edge in terms of fine detail and image noise. That said, it still takes really good photographs. The phone uses a similar 12MP camera as the iPhone 7 Plus, but somehow the image quality is recognizably different. Camera aside, the phone is extremely fast. So much so, that you would feel, that all Android phones are tad bit slower, Pixel included. Specs: Display: 4.7 inches ,750 x 1334 p SoC: Apple A10 Fusion RAM: 2GB Storage: 32/128/256 GB Camera: 12MP, 7MP Battery: Non-removable Li-Ion 1960 mAh OS: iOS 10.0.1

Apple iPhone 6S Plus
The iPhone 6S Plus is the best camera smartphone that Apple presently has on offer. Apart from fluid performance, the device boasts a very impressive camera. The new 12MP sensor from Sony, the IMX 315, is a big upgrade over the last gen 8MP iSight camera. This is further aided by OIS and the excellent algorithm that balances colours and contrast really well in photographs. The 6S Plus loses out to the Galaxy S7 Edge in low light performance. That said, the iPhone is as smooth and fast as phones can get. The latest version of iOS, combined with the fast Apple A9 SoC, can handle small and big tasks with equal ease. The large, 5.5-inch display offers punchy colours. Moreover, the 3D Touch display is a joy to work on! Specs: Display: 5.5 inches, 1080 x 1920 p SoC: Apple A9 RAM: 2 GB Storage: 16/32/64/128 GB Camera: 12MP, 5MP Battery: Non-removable Li-Ion 2750 mAh OS: iOS 9,

HTC 10
Over the past few years, HTC has been trying to implement UltraPixel cameras in its flagship devices, but the experiment has not been successful yet. The 12MP UltraPixel camera on the HTC 10, however, will change that, and we believe that it is one of the best camera phone out there. It uses the Sony IMX377 Exmor R sensor, which is aided by OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) and offers RAW support. The image quality is great, no matter whether you are shooting in broad daylight or under streetlight. There is some noise under low light conditions, but the images taken by the device look true to source. The HTC 10 is also a very powerful smartphone, offering a Qualcomm Snapdragon SoC at heart. Specs: Display: 5.2 inches , 1440 x 2560 p SoC: Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 RAM: 4GB Storage: 32/64 GB Camera: 12MP, 5MP Battery: Non-removable Li-Ion 3000 mAh OS: Android, v6.0.1

Huawei P9
Huawei P9 is a serious best camera smartphone and has two camera sensors at its back. It uses two IMX286 Exmor RS image sensors, for which known camera-makers Leica has provided SUMMARIT f/2.2 lenses. One camera captures the image in colour, and the other captures the image in black and white. This improves the camera quality in low light, and you can adjust the aperture of the camera to get the much-desired bokeh effect. The only downside is the slightly slow focusing speed of the camera. The device is powered by a Kirin 955 SoC, which is not as powerful as the competing Qualcomm Snapdragon 820, but still manages to be respectable throughout. Also, this is one the best designed and well-built phones we have reviewed in the recent past. Specs: Display: 5.2 inches, 1080 x 1920 p SoC: HiSilicon Kirin 955 RAM: 4 GB Storage: 64 GB, Camera:12MP, 8MP Battery: Non-removable Li-Ion 3000 mAh OS:Android, v6.0

OnePlus 3T
The latest addition to the OnePlus family replaces the old 13MP camera sensor for a new 16MP one made by Sony. The IMX298 sensor on the OnePlus 3T offers good image quality in multiple lighting conditions. The sensor supports PDAF (Phase Detection Autofocus) and OIS (Optical Image Stabilization), which helps in low light imaging and secures its place among the top camera smartphones available in the market. The OnePlus 3T also provides excellent performance thanks to its Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 SoC and a whopping 6GB of RAM. The phone gives Google Pixel a run for its money in terms of performance. Specs: Display: 5.5 inches , 1080 x 1920 p SoC: Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 RAM: 6GB Storage: 64/128 GB Camera: 16MP, 16MP Battery: Non-removable Li-Ion 3400 mAh OS: Android OS, v6.0

LG G5
LG's innovation in design this year was accompanied by innovation in camera as well. While the dual-camera setup is not the main attraction here, but the overall camera is still very attractive. The 16MP rear camera on the LG G5 is basically as good as the two phones mentioned above, in most light conditions. What keeps this from being the absolute best camera smartphone is it's low light performance, which is slightly inferior to the Galaxy S7 Edge and iPhone 6S Plus. That said, it allows more control over the camera than those devices. Powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC and 4GB of RAM, the LG G5 performs as well as any other flagship from this year. What makes it even more innovative is the phone's modular design. Specs: Display: 5.3 inches, 1440 x 2560 p SoC: Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 RAM: 4 GB Storage: 32GB Camera: 16MP, 8MP Battery: Removable Li-Ion 2800 mAh OS: Android OS, v6.0.1

Motorola Moto Z
Clicking photos on this device is fast and snappy, and the image quality is nearly flawless. It has a wide, f/1.8 aperture lens, and the photos it produces are gorgeous. Like all devices in this list, the Moto Z focuses very fast, and comes with all the features that you would expect from a flagship smartphone. The performance of the phone is still comparable to current generation flagship devices. It is also one of the few devices that offer snap-on modules, which Motorola calls moto mods. The high resolution display, combined with metal-and-glass construction, makes it a very good looking phone as well.
